Since the "secret" has been leaking out already, I thought I would officially announce that my friend Kaisha and I are planning a trip to China this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (How many exclamation points would justly express my excitement over this?)
Both Kaisha and I sponsor adorable treasures over there and are so excited to finally get a chance to meet them in person.
I am so deeply grateful to God for opening up this amazing opportunity for me to finally walk in the fields of the fatherless for myself and pray that our time there will be used for His glory. Traveling to an orphanage in China has been my dream for about 4-5 years now, so I am ecstatic that it is finally coming true!
I'm sure this blog will be full of the experiences and lessons learned from this trip in coming months...I know it will change my life forever! If you think about it, please pray for our planning and pray too that God would use this time to really reveal His heart for the orphan to us in deeper ways then we might see from a distance. Thank you!

Oh wow!!! I bet you are so excited!! That would be my ultimate dream as well! I am so excited for you and I will be praying that to be a great experience for you. Also I know it is what really brings you joy.
I have been trying to think of something to do for orphans in the summer as well, do you have any suggestions? Although I would love to go overseas, I think I would it would be a little more realistic if I looked for something in the US like a foster home or group home. It would have to be something with young children though, because that is what I am most comfortable with.

Oh Annie! Praise God!! What an awesome opportunity!! It will indeed be an experience you will never forget. Your heart will be broken a thousand times over with the realization of the plight of the orphans, stretched to the limits with deep love for the children, and grown by the Father. I will be praying for your journey, that God would provide in every way, that it will help define your future calling, and that you will be a blessing to the children and the Chinese people.

You might want to check into the Shaohannah's Hope mission trips (look on their website). I really wanted to go on their trip to China last summer, but wasn't able to. I haven't heard yet if they're making another trip this year or not, but it's something you might want to look into!
As for something in the States, I haven't heard of anything like you described, but will definitely keep my ears open and let you know if I do!
