Shaohannah's Hope Mission Trips!

If you're between the ages of 15 and 25 and have a passion for serving the fatherless overseas, then the Summer 2009 mission trips sponsored by Shaohannah's Hope just might be for you. I looked into last year's trip to China extensively, and even though I wasn't able to go due to schedule conflicts, it looked to be an incredible experience. This summer, Shaohannah's Hope is once again headed to China and also plans two trips to Honduras to minister to precious orphans. Space is limited and applications are due soon, so if you're interested, click on the following link for full details:

Let's make this a summer where, regardless of whether we enter the domestic or international fields of the fatherless, we radiate the Hope that is in us to precious little ones who so desperately need to know the love of Christ!

Hi, I have been hearing so much about these trips, how exciting! Are you going on any of them? I know you are going to China with your family, but will you be going with Shaohanna's Hope too? It would be a dream of mine to go, but I just don't feel like I am ready yet, I want to look for some were in the country to volunteer some time this summer working with orphans in some way. I defiantly want to go to China and/or other mission trips in the future though!!

Hi Sharon!
Your situation was exactly mine last summer. I really wanted to go on SH's trip to China last July, but it just wasn't the right time for me. So, I've had sort of a "preparation year," gaining more in-country travel and experiences so that now, this year, I'm ready for China! :) So, I perfectly understand your need to prepare more. Hopefully God will open up a door for you to care for the Fatherless in your own community! Have you tried contacting any local adoption agencies or foster care programs to see if they could use some assistance this summer?
I am not planning to go on a SH this year because of my own trip to China, but I definitely will consider taking advantages of their mission trip opportunities in the future!
God bless your plans this summer, Sharon!

Yes, exactly I need some time to prepare, and I hope to gain more experience working with orphans because I haven't done so yet. I am very experienced with children though, I am learning so much in the classes that I am taking as well. No I haven't tried contacting adoption agencies or foster care programs, but thank you for the idea, i will do that! I bet you are so excited about your trip!! Have you ever traveled out of the country before? I haven't ever even rode on a plane yet! I am going to have to read Kaisha's blog, I did take a look at it and saw that she has 2 Chinese sisters! How exciting!
Please keep us updated on your trip to China I hope to learn from your experiences!!

OH Just kidding, LOL!

Also, I just received another pic of my sponsor child, Tristan. It is so exciting to see new pictures of him. He is supposed to be getting his cleft lip surgery soon, I can't wait to see how he recovers. Also when you go if you could get some pictures for me??
