The miracle that every sponsor hopes and prays will come to the beloved children they support and love just happened yesterday for my sweet boy, Perry (now Will!). I had been following his family for months as they completed their final steps to bring him home and my heart raced and celebrated along with theirs as they boarded their plane to Ch1na a few days ago and made their way to Shepherd's Field Children's Village to bring him home forever. I thought of them constantly while they were in the air, reliving my own recent trip there and imagining my sweet boy, sleeping and playing and going to preschool as usual, unaware in his three-year-old mind how everything would change for him when he woke up the next morning and was placed in their arms. After work last night, I raced to my laptop with hopes of Gotcha Day photos, and sure enough, there they were. The most precious glimpses of Will's little miracle....

One of my favorite parts was the unexpected thrill of seeing him wear the outfit I had picked out for his birthday in October...the last little gift I'd ever send as his sponsor. (I couldn't resist the adorable shirt from my alma mater...Go Cougs!) I love that part of me got to be there celebrating with him yesterday....what a sweet gift!
There he is....with his mama. <3
The end of his life as an orphan and the beginning of a long childhood full of hugs, security, tickles, books, playground time, kisses, cuddles, dress-up, adventures, and cheers for the things he will do and accomplish in years to come. He will grow up knowing about Jes*s, hearing B1ble stories read to him, listening to the songs of the faith, and being loved by so many dear saints in a ch*rch family. He will have a heritage, a hope, a future, a love that will never end.
This is the family and the home that G0d ordained from before all time to give Will and delighted to bring him into. How marvelous and glorious and loving is our Heavenly Father and his heart for adoption!
"He sets the lonely in families..." ~Ps. 68:6
A very Happy Gotcha Day to my sweet boy. I have prayed for this day for you ever since I knew your face and our sponsorship bond started. I will always love you and always thank G0d for the remarkable privilege of getting to serve, love, and even hold and kiss you in person while you waited for this day. You're home now, little man. Forever and ever. <3
