I've been thinking recently about the ratio of non-Christian (i.e. secular) service organizations to ones built on a Christ-exalting foundation, and am saddened that there are often many more of the former than the latter. Everywhere we see ads which encourage us to support the needy and "change the world" all the while ignoring the greatest World Changer ever, Jesus Christ, who alone holds the power to make real and lasting positive changes in people's lives. What ultimate good is feeding the hungry if we do not also introduce them to the Bread of Life? How can we bring enduring hope to children if we do not have the Hope of the Gospel alive within us, ready to share with others? Think of all the unique resources which have been given to us as Christians: God's saving grace, rebirth in Christ, the Holy Spirit's power to sanctify and grow us in holiness, a new heart through which God can spread his love and compassion to others, knowledge of Truth and the eternally unchanging Gospel, the fruit of the spirit, God's undeserved favor and mercy (which assures us that even our most imperfect deeds of service can bring delight and glory to our Father), Christ's intercession on our behalf, heavenly sonship...and on and on the list goes. With such an arsenal backing us up, why are we as Christians often slow to Show Hope to those in need? Why do we, having the most powerful and life-changing of resources, often let the world out-do us in terms of practical service to the needy and downtrodden? This is a challenge to myself, for sure! Earthly, temporal acts of service to orphans and other needy people are ultimately in vain if not coupled with the eternal, truly world-altering Gospel of Jesus Christ. Oh may His church rise up to serve and minister to others in ways that will bring positive changes to not only our momentary moments on earth, but all of eternity. May we not let all of our heavenly resources go to waste, but use them to meet practical needs on earth and, most importantly, point souls to our one True Hope and further Christ's kingdom!"Only one life; T’will soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last!" ~author unknown

This is so true! It is sad that there are more secular organizations than christian, we need to step up. Have an awesome time in China, Annie!
Watching the pictures and your comments shows how much there is still to be done. Kudos to yu and your team for stepping up to the plate and being Christ's hands and feet...going where few have gone. You have so much love to give. Give those kids a hug for me. Blessing on you Annie.

Well expressed! I also look at all the organizations and marvel at the heart behind but realize the lack of truth they hold. There needs to be more workers with the true message in their hearts.
