Today, with another Fourth of July one box behind us on the calendar, I'm reminded of how much we truly have to be grateful for as Americans. I think of the thousands, possibly millions, of people around the world who are living in slavery, and am awed again by God's amazing grace to me. Why was I born in abundance and freedom, while so many other kids have faced poverty and bondage from day one? It is only grace, amazing grace.
So, before we take this freedom for granted, let's take a minute to stop and pray for all the children in the world who do not have the freedoms we do. Pray for the children living under cruel dictators in countries where they are not even able to own a Bible freely. Pray for children enslaved into prostitution. Pray for the little ones forced into slave labor. Pray that God would surround these children and grant them freedom from their oppressors. Then go out and live with a renewed appreciation for your own freedom and desire to seek after justice for those who so desperately need it.
Happy 4th of July!
